VCW signs with Cyberoam as Fortinet speculation grows

Distributor signs up UTM vendor as question mark hangs over its relationship with Fortinet

VCW claims Cyberoam offers good reseller margins

Distributor Voice Comms Warehouse (VCW) has added unified threat management (UTM) vendor Cyberoam to its portfolio as speculation grows about the future of its relationship with Fortinet.

It is the second UTM vendor VCW has taken on this year, following its signing of NetPilot.

VCW managing director Graham Fox said: “Cyberoam has been recognised as one of the leading visionaries in UTM. Commercially, the numbers also stack up for our partners as it is very competitive.”

VCW has traditionally based its business around Fortinet, a relationship it bolstered through its 2007 acquisition of Fresh Egg.

However, multiple sources have indicated the duo’s relationship may be coming to an end mid-way through this month as the UTM vendor looks to rationalise its UK distribution line-up.

India-based Cyberoam entered the UK in 2008 and recently signed Interactive Ideas as its second distributor alongside incumbent e92plus.

Mukesh Gupta, managing director of e92plus, was unfazed by the move. “Cyberoam needs a lot more work and brand recognition, and the addition of another distributor will help bring the brand to the forefront,” he said.

Kunal Popat, general manager of business development at Cyberoam, said: “VCW has been the force behind major brands of network security in the UK. Its solid platform of business and extensive network of security resellers will be a major asset as we concentrate on building on our leadership in the UTM market of the UK.”
