Takeovers boost IT training duo
The IT training sector is consolidating, with Comtec and Delphi acquiring smaller firms.
Comtec Computer Training has extended its reach into the West Country with the purchase of Blueneck Computer Training in Bristol for an undisclosed sum.
The buy takes group turnover to #6 million, brings Comtec?s branch network up to six, and adds a second Sylvan prometric testing centre.
David Bogart, former sales director of Blueneck, will become Comtec Bristol sales director. Comtec MD Charles Caudle said: ?Bristol was the next location in our national strategy and the Blueneck operation is a natural fit for us.?
Delphi Group is paying an initial sum of #2.4 million for Anthony Cook (Northern), a #2.1 million business with branches in Leeds and Manchester.
Delphi is to merge the company ? described as one of the largest Microsoft authorised technical education centres ? into its existing business Interskill Training. This will create a seven-strong branch network and boost group training revenues to more than #5 million in 1997.
Tony Reeves, chairman and CEO of Delphi Group, said the move would strengthen the company?s training arm.
