Ingram Micro revs up VAD strategy with second acquisition
Broadliner follows up CCD buy with acquisition of enterprise-focused Spanish distributor
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed
In another sign of its EMEA enterprise ambitions, broadline distributor Ingram Micro has acquired Spanish virtualisation, security and middleware specialist Albora Soluciones.
The purchase follows on from Ingram’s acquisition of UK VAD CCD last year. The distributor has also recently expanded its HP value portfolio in several continental European countries and inked an IBM contract in Germany in a signal of its intentions to crack the value-based market.
The CCD and Albora acquisitions mirror the strategy of arch-rival Tech Data, which has picked off several VADs across Europe in recent quarters, including storage specialist CDG Europe.
Founded in 2001, Albora has 35 staff and counts Citrix, Wyse, Sophos and Oracle among its allies. It will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Ingram Micro EMEA. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Ingram Micro EMEA president, Alain Maquet, said: “Albora is a leader in the Spanish market with a proven track record of profitable results, as well as strong customer and vendor relationships.”
Albora’s director general, Marti Figols, commented: “This transaction will allow our team at Albora to further improve our service to customers and our overall partnerships with vendors. We are very pleased to be joining a world leader like Ingram Micro and look forward to continued growth and success.”
