VMinformer looks for UK partners

Virtualisation security newcommer appoints Cirrus to build local channel

John Reeman: No other product provides that level of detail

Recently launched vendor VMinformer has hit out at the culture of naïvety surrounding virtualisation deployments, as it scouts for UK partners.

Set up two years ago by John Reeman, co-founder of VAR Nebulas, VMinformer makes tools which dynamically assess the security of virtual environments.

After selling his 50 per cent stake in Nebulas, Reeman is moving to Australia to build the business. UK channel development activities will be spearheaded by Cirrus Management Solutions.

Reeman said: “We provide a compliance, auditing and security assessment tool for anyone who has virtual environments.”

The tool would provide end users with a “gold star” to prove they are compliant with best practices, he added. “No other product provides that level of detail at the moment,” Reeman said. “The only way to do it currently is through a manual audit, which takes time and is prone to human error.”

VMinformer has enlisted distributor Cirrus to recruit a select channel of UK consultancies, traditional resellers and managed services and cloud partners.

Cirrus director Mark Kacary said there is a growing need for VMinformer’s technology. “Security departments are having to run around after other departments who are trying to virtualise anything and everything in the datacentre,” he said. “They naïvely think it is instantly secure.”

Nebulas is already on board as a partner. Managing director Nick Garlick, who has bought Reeman’s stake, said: “It is a clever solution and fairly unique in the market.”

Garlick said Nebulas is well positioned to grow after bringing in a private investor.

“There is a great opportunity for us as the markets we span – security, virtualisation and acceleration – are extremely relevant to the market today,” he said.
