Computerlinks applauds UK market

Security distribution giant feels market is in good shape despite the downturn

The UK’s dominant security distributor has given an upbeat assessment of the market after posting local sales growth of nearly 10 per cent for 2008.

Germany-based Computerlinks saw full-year UK and Ireland sales bounce 9.6 per cent to €159.3m (£144.3m).

Dave Ellis, e-security director at Computerlinks, said UK end users are still increasing security spending to meet corporate governance guidelines and improve efficiency.
“Resellers are having to work harder for projects and there is more margin pressure in some areas, but overall the market is in pretty good shape,” he said.

Ellis said Computerlinks is unlikely to acquire in the UK this year. “I am not sure anyone could bring anything over and above what we already have,” he said.
