DataFort wants VARs

Managed service provider wants to double its reseller ranks

Managed services provider DataFort wants to double its channel ranks and partner with 400 UK VARs.

The offsite data backup provider has launched a partner programme to attract resellers.

Marcie Terman, business development director at DataFort, said: “We currently have 200 UK resellers. I would expect to double this number within the next two years.”

Terman added that UK-based DataFort has plans to expand into international markets and the firm is also developing new products based around email archiving and backup.

“DataFort is UK owned and operated,” she said. “This gives our channel a huge psychological benefit because they know the data is stored nearby. We have a good reputation for being responsive to our resellers and giving our channel partners a reoccurring revenue stream.”

Terman added that DataFort partners mainly with network development companies and she expected the firm’s new VARs to be larger than DataFort’s current resellers.

“We do 80 per cent of our business through the channel,” she said. “However, we take 20 per cent of money made from direct customers and place it in a pool. This pool is then shared between resellers based on how much business they generate.”

Mark Lower, managing director of the managed voice services division at InTechnology, said: “The opportunity in managed services is increasing because convergence is causing complexity that end-users cannot handle.”
