Safend's tryst with UK
Israeli security vendor Safend has signed Sentryst as its first UK distributor to address the growing demand for endpoint security.
The deal will see Sentryst recruit a network of resellers to push Safend’s flagship software products: the Safend USB Port Protector and USB Auditor, both of which protect company ports from security breaches caused by external devices such as iPods, digital cameras and phones.
Ari Fruchter, director of channel management at Safend, said: “We are 100 per cent channel focused. We look for a distributor in each country that we can work with to set up a channel.
“Companies have been very concerned about what is happening from the outside, but are unaware that 60 per cent of corporate data resides at the endpoint. Most firms have no visibility over this issue and it is the area we are addressing.”
Safend has also established a presence in 20 other countries including the US, Italy and South Africa.
Alan Reid, managing director of Sentryst, said the distributor will work with Safend to recruit resellers and to offer web training and support.
“Products such as iPods are a definite success, but they pose a huge problem for firms. Someone can just come into an office and suck up what sensitive information is at the endpoint. Safend’s products protect against this.
“We are looking to recruit between 40 and 50 proactive resellers by the end of the year,” he said.
