SDG builds Good mobile channel
Mobile security vendor appoints first distributor as it argues bring-your-own-device craze has made it "very, very relevant"
Mobile security vendor Good Technology is building a channel at "break-neck speed" as it seeks to tap into the rise of smartphones and tablets in a corporate setting.
Fresh from inking a carrier deal with Vodafone, the vendor has appointed distributor SDG to develop a reseller channel in the UK and select European countries.
Good's software is designed to lock down corporate data on employee- or corporate-owned devices including iPads, iPhones and Android devices.
Huw Owen, who recently joined as head of channel, admitted Good had been in Blackberry's shadow, but said the bring-your-own-device craze had made his firm "very, very relevant".
SDG managing director Paul Eccleston (pictured) said Good would slot into the distributor's client virtualisation portfolio alongside vendors such as Citrix, VMware and Quest.
"End users want to securely deliver messaging to the device of their choice and the answer is Good," he said. "The demand for the solution is massive and to scale this, it needed to use a distributor."
Owen added: "We have some infancy relationships with partners, but they will now be handled by SDG."
Security VAR Imerja is a partner of Good's and has also deployed its technology in-house.
Imerja managing Ian Jackson said Good allows firms to sidestep building their own smartphone estates by taking advantage of employees bringing their own devices into work. "Blackberry is a good device but it lacks flexibility," he said. "Good gives end users more choice."
