Varlink hails buoyant Q3
Specialist distributor basking in increased business while its larger rivals suffer a slowdown
Specialist distributor Varlink is celebrating a 12 per cent increase in orders for its third quarter as its larger rivals see a slowdown.
The York-based data capture and mobile computing VAD saw a 20 per cent surge in Q1 orders, and a nine per cent increase in sales at its six-month mark.
Mike Pullon, chief executive of Varlink, said the firm is on track to see Q3 growth of 12 per cent.
“At a time when broadline distributors are seeing reduced sales, we, as a more specialist player are seeing the reverse,” he said. “Broadliners are great if you know what you want to order, but if you are not sure and you need advice, this is where we come into our own.”
Pullon said the firm had broadened its range of tablet computers, adding products from Casio, Getac and Fujitsu.
“We have always made the case for our technology enhancing the efficiency of a company and this strategy is starting to pay off,” he said.
He added that Varlink is hoping to maintain its double-digit growth for Q4, and is in the process of recruiting a specialist tablet salesperson and also an additional marketing person.
