Check Point secures the perimeter with latest buyout
The acquisition of Perimeter 81 is intended to create a complete SASE solution under Check Point
Cybersecurity solutions provider Check Point has acquired Perimeter 81, a security service edge (SSE) company with a worldwide customer base of over 3,000, for an undisclosed sum.
According to the US-based company, the buyout solidifies its commitment to secure remote access and cloud services in the era of hybrid work environments.
"Welcoming Perimeter 81 into the Check Point family fortifies our position in the SASE market.
"Its unique suite, which offers zero-trust access, full mesh connectivity, and swift one-hour deployment, aligns perfectly with our vision of delivering the industry's fastest, most secure SASE solution," said Gil Shwed, Check Point CEO.
Perimeter 81's flagship product is a converged network and security platform which connects on-prem and remote users to resources stored locally or in the cloud.
The SaaS specialist allows businesses to build a private corporate network without any hardware.
According to Perimeter 81, its solution is used by more than 3,000 customers and partners that are among the world's largest managed service providers and channel resellers.
The company has over 200 employees.
Check Point ramps up acquisitions and channel drive
The acquisition comes on the heels of Check Point buying Atmosec, a vendor specialising in the rapid detection and disconnection of malicious SaaS applications.
The goal of Check Point's acquisition strategy is to offer a complete secure access service edge (SASE) solution through its Infinity architecture.
In March, the vendor ramped up its channel strategy with the appointment of Francisco Criado, a long-time IT distribution executive who was most recently a senior vice president at TD SYNNEX, as its new global channel chief.
"If you look at the market opportunity, it's SASE, it's zero trust, it's protecting the user. Cloud security is big," Criado told CRN at the time.
For Check Point, "selling beyond the firewall is one of the priorities" for channel efforts going forward, he added.
