Edward Pacey
Director, EP Credit Management & Consultancy
Career so far I have spent more than 35 years in credit management, the last 18 with Bell Microproducts as credit services director. I now run my own consultancy but remain closely linked with the IT channel. I’m still writing, still commenting and still active.
If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be? Tamara Ecclestone because I’d like to experience what if feels like to be vacuous, talentless and yet so wealthy.
What will next year’s most overhyped industry buzzword be? You mean there’s only one?
Has 2012 been a good, bad or ugly year? 2012 heralded a period of change and fundamental shift in the channel. Opportunity is always there for those with vision and intent. Reluctance to move with the times will hurt those that deny change or insist nothing needs changing.
What would you have as your last meal? A specially prepared lamb kebab in pitta bread with all the trimmings and a glass of red wine.
What keeps you awake at night? The light flashing on the automated air-freshener.
What piece of technology could you not be without? My mobile phone.
Have any of your predictions come true this year? Certainly, I’m a lot happier.
What is the best partner/customer trip you have ever been on? A four-day extended European IT credit forum meeting in Dubai.
What do you see as the channel’s biggest challenge in 2013? Margin erosion in traditional IT supply and recognition that no channel route is guaranteed, or for life.
