Chief executive, Fabric Technologies
Career so far After a mis-spent youth building computers in my bedroom, this hobby evolved into an IT support and network integration business, Psychosis when I left school. In 2007, through a merger with Open Business Systems, we launched Fabric Technologies, which grew to revenues of £13m with about 100 staff. In April 2012 Fabric became part of the Advanced Computer Software Group and merged with Advanced 365.
If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be? Ueli Steck (he holds the speed record for the fastest ascent of many alpine summits). In just a few days, I'd be able to go and climb all the mountains I've been meaning to get round to, but never seem to have enough time.
What will next year's most overhyped industry buzzword be? The internet of big social cloud data things.
Has 2012 been a good, bad or ugly year? 2012 started well with very strong managed services growth and in April our acquisition by Advanced Computer Software Group has taken things from strength to strength. We've barely had the chance to surface for air since.
What would you have as your last meal? I'm half Swiss so fondue, of course.
What keeps you awake at night? Too much after-dinner coffee.
What piece of technology could you not be without? My new 3D printer.
Have any of your predictions come true this year? That increasing M&A in the channel will create both new opportunities and challenges.
What do you see as the channel's biggest challenge in 2013? Striking the balance between achieving efficiencies of scale and dynamic innovation.
