Gem Distribution has acquired the trademark and brand assets of MP3 player accessory supplier Exspect.
Exspect provide cases and skins for the Apple iPod and other MP3 players, along a range of Digital camera bags.
The acquisition sees two new personnel join Gem, Neil Meredith, who will join as Exspect Divisional Manager while Mike Sanderson joins as Exspect Marketing Manager.
Meredith said: "We have been working very closely with the team at Gem over the past two years and they have been very important as a supply route to several of our major customers. We have spent a lot of time with their sales and product teams educating them on the core values of Exspect and our products.
"We felt that Gem had the perfect infrastructure to take Exspect to the next level, whilst causing as little inconvenience to our current customers and supplier relationships as possible," added Meredith.
Chris Peacock, managing director at Gem, said: "We are delighted with the purchase of a great brand in Exspect and we see this as one of the key steps of our business strategy. It will strengthen our ability to control our own destiny in this emerging market."
