Distributor Ideal Enterprise Solutions is so concerned about losing sales staff in the UK's homogeneous industrial estates that it has equipped its new six-strong sales team with satellite positioning technology.
The team of Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) account managers will track their progress as they set out to recruit resellers using FSC's TomTomNavigator Global Positioning System on the vendor's Pocket 600 PDA.
Mark Walker, director of Ideal Enterprise Solutions, said: "We've yet to lose anyone permanently but TomTomNavigator should make it easier for the team to find their way around the industrial estates where most resellers are located.
"Some are labyrinthine and not places to be visited by the faint-hearted. Our account managers are a brave lot and they always go back out there, but now we are sure they'll find their way back."
Ian Snadden, director of channel and SME sales at FSC, said: "I've just found my way to my next meeting using it, so it's ideal. It always helps to be more efficient when you're a field sales operative."
