Ingram has been confirmed as an official UK distributor for smartphone giant BlackBerry.
The deal will see Ingram – which recently announced its intention to expand netbook and mobile accessory coverage in the UK – have a specific focus on growth in the enterprise and SMB segments in the UK market.
As a result the distribution giant is looking to expand its BlackBerry-focused team.
It has already appointed Steve Hillman, who has worked at several large organisations including Orange, as UK lead for telecommunications products.
The firm is also running a sales training programme for internal staff and external account managers, and is developing an interactive BlackBerry solution web site.
Alain Maquet, president of Ingram Micro EMEA, said: “Today’s announcement is a strong testament to Ingram Micro’s commitment to drive growth in the telecommunications segment.
“In 2010 we established a separate telecommunications division and have been growing our product portfolio steadily with innovative and unique mobile products. We are very pleased to be now offering the full line of BlackBerry products and services to our customers,” he added. “With over 30 years of experience in IT distribution, we are ideally positioned to build a value proposition to resellers and telco operators alike.”
Joe Macri says the vendor saw 20 per cent of its UK growth come from its Cloud Solution Provider programme last year
