Azlan eyes number one converged distribution spot

Distributor aims to become the first true converged distributor in the UK, new head claims

Eyes on the top spot: Azlan has ambitious plans to be the number one converged distributor in the UK

Azlan is going to become the first true converged infrastructure distributor in the UK, according to its new head honcho.

Ian French, today officially took on the role of business development director at Azlan, with the aim of breathing a breath of fresh air into a general distribution model he claims has become "siloed" and "stale".

French has been working with Azlan’s parent company Computer 2000 for the past eight months on a consultancy basis with his firm Siceo.

“We have been looking at Azlan and what we can do to accelerate growth in the enterprise space,” French said. “The general message is going to be converged infrastructure. Many channel companies work in narrow silos of expertise and most distributors will either be storage, security or networking specialists, but Azlan covers them all and also has an enterprise software business that many don’t know about.”

“We believe we will be the first UK distributor to offer converged infrastructure,” he added. “We have a strong end-to-end relationship with both HP and Cisco, and a series of strong existing vendor relationships, and we are looking at extending those relationships even further.”

Azlan is also in discussion with a handful of new vendors, he said.

“The objective is to change the game. Distribution is getting very siloed and stale, but we have the opportunity to create new opportunities and we are investing in the business,” French said.
