Premises product monitors mobile staff
Software helps firms comply with EU health and safety laws
Reseller Premises Networks Management has developed software to keep track of mobile workers and help firms comply with European Union (EU) health and safety legislation.
EU rules state that employers are responsible for the health and safety of off-site workers, ranging from health visitors to utility workers.
Premises' LoneWorker is a telephony data management system that monitors teleworkers, and reports any deviations from their daily routines.
Maurice Lee, managing director of Premises, said the company had spotted a niche in the market. "Everybody is talking about security and it's important that employers know where staff are and what they are doing," he said.
"We have invested a substantial amount in the product's development but we are confident we will make money. We are seeing most interest in the public sector, with NHS hospitals and councils looking at the product."
John Griffiths, consulting director at reseller Compusys, said resellers are increasingly looking at small niche markets that allow them to use their specialist knowledge and skills.
"If resellers can build a reputation in a particular market, such as the NHS, they can make money," he said.
