Altigen on channel recruitment drive
IP telephony vendor's UK distributor signs 30 resellers to attend training seminar
IP telephony vendor Altigen is finally making headway with its channel, a month after the departure of Richard de Soto, the vendor's head of marketing and European channel. De Soto was replaced by Mike Plumer, the firm's US sales director.
Altigen's sole UK distributor, Now Distribution, has signed up 30 resellers to attend a training seminar early this month.
"We will be running training for sales and initial pre-sales tech support on 12 September," said Brian Jackson, managing director of Now. "We are happy to welcome more resellers if they're interested."
Jackson said the resellers attending the seminars had also applied for accreditation. Now will initially be targeting small data resellers, he said, although the channel will eventually involve more telecoms resellers. "The two channels will converge," said Jackson.
Peter Cameron, a representative of the agency Products to Europe, which is breaking Altigen into the UK, said that the vendor, Products to Europe and Now would look to raise Altigen's profile at the Convergence Summit in Coventry on 9 and 10 September.
"Everything is running fine," said Cameron. "It looks like it's going to get better and better. It is a tough market at the moment because everyone is signing up with vendors and over-stretching their resources, so it's not easy to sign up resellers."
