CA chairman steps down
Kumar now chief software architect
Sanjay Kumar has stepped down as chairman and chief executive of Computer Associates (CA) and resigned from the board. His new role is chief software architect.
CA is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the district attorney's office over previous accounting practices.
Four former CA senior executives have pleaded guilty to related charges this year and nine more staff were sacked last week.
Lewis Ranieri has been elected CA chairman. He said: "The changes in Sanjay's role are not based on the conclusion that he engaged in wrongdoing. Nonetheless, the conduct occurred during his tenure, and the board felt this action was appropriate."
