Westwood West to be wound up
'Accounting irregularities' to be investigated as firm declares insolvency
Westwood West Ltd, a Swindon-based reseller, has declared insolvency and will be wound up voluntarily.
Andy Beckingham and Simon Haskew, of insolvency specialists Begbies Traynor, have been appointed joint liquidators.
"Concern has been expressed as to irregularities of all accounting matters at the firm," said Beckingham, a senior partner at Begbies Traynor.
"The liquidator has undertaken to conduct a full enquiry into the circumstances leading to the failure of the firm."
Last week, Westwood West's phone and fax numbers were unobtainable. Westwood West reportedly owes creditors Maverik, Ideal, Computer 2000 (C2000), Ingram, Northamber, Azlan, Allasso and Micro P sums ranging from £3,000 to £87,000.
"We have value and security in there," said Chris Ward, UK general manager of credit at C2000. "We hope to recover the money."
Ian French, president of Bell Microproducts Europe, said: "More firms will go over the next few months. When the market recovers people are more selective; you don't see many go in a recession, but lots in a recovery."
Westwood West is part of the CCI Group, which declined to comment.
