Philips ends distribution agreement with Westcoast

Vendor shocks its channel by parting with Westcoast after less than two months

Vendor Philips has shocked its UK channel by ending a distribution agreement with Westcoast after less than two months, CRN understands.

Nigel Grayston, business-to-business sales manager for consumer electronics at Philips, said: “There were commercially mutual reasons for parting [with Westcoast],” he said.

The announcement leaves Philips with four UK distributors: Micro Peripherals, Northamber, Computer 2000 (C2000) and Midwich.

Kevin Wragg, business unit manager for peripherals at C2000, told CRN: “For Westcoast to go after six weeks is odd. However, from our point of view it’s one less distributor for us to compete with.”

Westcoast declined to comment on the parting.
