Bullet Point hears crash of Thunder

Maverick signs up second VAR to sell its virtual flipchart system, and reveals plans to sign more

Maverick has appointed a second reseller to sell its Thunder virtual flipchart system, following the launch of its dedicated Thunder showroom in March (CRN, 23 March).

Manufactured by PolyVision, Thunder comprises a series of large-format displays where content can be simultaneously shared over any network with other similarly equipped rooms.

As the sole UK distributor for Thunder, Maverick has been working on recruiting a select number of VARs to become Authorised Thunder partners. Last week, Maverick appointed audiovisual reseller Bullet Point as its second Thunder partner.

Andy Rump, interactive business manager at Maverick, said: “Bullet Point will be an Authorised Thunder partner, but moving forward it might have its own Thunder showroom.”

Maverick has three levels of Thunder partners: Regional, the highest level; Authorised the middle; and Thunder the lowest. Only top-level partners need their own Thunder showroom. In March, videoconferencing VAR QuestMark became Maverick’s Thunder partner.

Chris Deeley, managing director of Bullet Point, said: “We think Thunder is an exciting product. We will attack a number of markets because we see opportunity in many areas, but higher education and top corporates are the obvious ones. We are considering when we can open our own Thunder showroom, not if.”

Initially, Maverick’s installation arm, ProInstall, was to be the only authorised installer of Thunder, but Maverick is now looking to recruit five integrators across the UK to become Thunder installation partners.

“We have had a re-think because end-users are saying that they have got a preferred installer already, so they didn’t want to use ProInstall,” Rump added.
