NetScreen finds a port in Vistorm

Vistorm becomes second VAR to be awarded Authorised Support Centre status

Vistorm has become only the second VAR to be awarded Authorised Support Centre (NASC) status by security vendor NetScreen.

The firm can now offer its own support packs, as well as use NetScreen for software support and other problems.

Rob Norris, services director at Vistorm, which also provides services for Check Point, Nokia and Citrix, said the move was in response to customer demand.

"NetScreen's business is growing rapidly in the UK and we want to offer the same level of service as for our other security vendor partners," he said.

The company's services business accounts for about 40 per cent of its revenue, he added.

Vistorm joins Allnet as the second UK VAR with NASC status.

Peter Crowcombe, product marketing manager at NetScreen, said the vendor wants its resellers to be able to build viable businesses around its products.

"Resellers need a support centre, trained support staff and the ability to provide a service level agreement to achieve this. Vistorm already had this in place," he said.

According to Neil Ledger, co-founder of distributor equIP, which supports smaller resellers with NetScreen services: "Services for NetScreen products will grow as the vendor takes market share from its competitors."
