AEP Networks acquires Vados
Network security vendor buys Ascot-based firm
Multilayered network security and secure access vendor AEP Networks has acquired a previous alliance partner in the form of Vados Systems.
Based in Ascot, Vados provides converged, integrated communications solutions, which AEP Networks had formed an alliance with in May 2007.
Pat Donnellan, chief executive of AEP Networks, said: “This acquisition is strategic to AEP Networks' growth for a number of reasons. We are strengthening our foothold in the European and Asian markets, so this acquisition will enhance our existing efforts throughout these regions.
“Backed by newly expanded customer service teams, our broader reach will enable us to sell and support a greater range of products and solutions.”
AEP Networks’ portfolio currently includes SSL VPNs, high assurance IPSec-based VPN encryptors, and hardware security modules for key management.
As a result of the vendor’s previous alliance relationship the companies have collaborated to develop solutions such as multi-bearer in-vehicle systems for police forces and the Personal Deployable Communications pack for governments and commercial organisations.
Peter van de Geest, chief executive of Vados Systems, will join the AEP Networks management team as managing director for EMEA.
Van de Geest said: “Our productive working relationship made this acquisition a natural progression for both organisations.
“Both AEP and Vados have a keen focus on the government market segment and are uniquely positioned to address its rigorous requirements.”
