Creditors fume as ACA crumbles
Market slowdown claims another reseller
A Harrogate-based reseller has become the latest victim of the market slowdown. ACA Computers, which began trading in 1993 and was an IBM authorised business partner, went into receivership on 11 July.
Richard Bastow, from Leeds-based insolvency firm Kroll Buchler Phillips, which has been appointed as official receiver, told vnunet.com's sister publication Computer Reseller News that the firm had stopped trading and that all employees had been made redundant. "We are hoping to eventually sell the property to raise some capital," he said.
Bastow refused to say why the firm went into receivership, or whether any assets were still available to sell to pay back creditors.
An industry source said that ACA posted turnover of £6.7m for 2000, but had not submitted any figures for 2001. "ACA has been struggling for quite a while," the source claimed.
Nitin Joshi, director of insolvency specialists PKF, is acting for a number of ACA's unsecured creditors. "A lot of creditors are unhappy with the situation and were concerned about the firm before it went into receivership," he said. "The return to unsecured creditors looks to be almost non-existent."
