Ingram signs Hitachi agreement

Distributor to help storage vendor increase presence in SME sector

Ingram Micro has inked a deal with Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) to distribute the vendor’s six latest SKU storage devices into the SME sector.

Ingram will distribute the six SME configurations of HDS’s Serial ATA-based TagmaStore workgroup modular storage models through its reseller partners in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

Although Ingram can distribute the full set of six SME-ready configured SKU devices, HDS’s existing UK distribution partners, such as Zycko and Ideal Hardware, will have access to the same products but in a slightly different format.

Andrew Fitzgerald, UK channel sales director at HDS, told CRN: “We are trying to break into the SME market with this. Because the SME market has very specific requirements for its products, the route to market needs to be able to reflect these needs.

“We anticipate a large increase in the volume of sales through this product release. Ingram Micro will be able to sustain this on a global scale.”

Kevin Murai, chief operating officer at Ingram Micro, said in a statement: “We look forward to bringing the high-end functionality that HDS is known for to new markets. We are excited about the new opportunities that these products present.”
