Bell Micro upbeat with Q4 prelims

Distributor hints that economy is on the up following preliminary fourth quarter 2009 statement

Don Bell: We have seen improvements in business in all geographies

Bell Micro is anticipating an eight to ten per cent increase in revenue for its fourth quarter results.

The distributor released a preliminary statement, revealing an expected net sales figure of between $830m and $840m, which exceeds its original forecast of between $796m and $819m.

In Europe the firm saw a 17 per cent sequential increase in sales, and a 13 per cent year-on-year increase.

Don Bell, chief executive of Bell, said: “Sales have increase by close to 20 per cent from Q2 2009. We have seen improvements in business in all geographies and most product categories.

“The product categories of storage components, storage systems and computer systems have been strong contributors to our growth,” he added. “We are optimistic that the improvement in demand in the last half of 2009 is an indicator of improved market conditions as we go forward in 2010.”

Bell Micro is expected to release its full Q4 and fiscal year end 2009 results next month.
