Computacenter ups e-trade
Deal with e-catalogue specialist CNet Channel will double its web offerings
Computacenter is looking to almost double its web offerings through a deal with e-catalogue specialist CNet Channel, a division of CNet Networks.
Computacenter will use CNet's Datasource product information service to provide details on more products on its e-commerce site. The aim is to increase the 35,000 products in its e-catalogue to about 65,000.
David Lee, Computacenter's e-enablement manager UK operations, said about 500 of the firm's UK customers use e-purchasing, saving the firm and its clients time and money.
"Some of our customers already carry 100 per cent of run rate procurement via our e-catalogue," he said. "But if they want a one-off purchase and the product is not in our e-catalogue, it is a challenge."
Recent research from the Computing Technology Industry Association found that, while 60 per cent of VARs understand the benefits of e-commerce, 75 per cent lack the resources to carry it out.
Jean-Francois Guyomar, senior vice-president of worldwide sales at CNet Channel, said the firm's data supply provides timely and structured product information.
"[This] is extremely important in today's competitive e-commerce environment," he said.
