ANS doubles turnover after Alpha acquisition

Mancunian reseller targets £40m revenue haul for current fiscal year

Mancunian reseller ANS more than doubled its turnover in its last fiscal year following its acquisition of rival Alpha and strong private cloud sales.

For its fiscal year to 31 March 2011, the Cisco, VMware and NetApp partner posted an operating profit of £1.5m on revenue that rose 122 per cent to £29.2m.

Although the results were bolstered by five months' contribution from Alpha, chief executive Scott Fletcher (pictured) stressed that organic growth came in at 50 per cent.

"We would have been at over £20m without Alpha," he said.

Fletcher claimed that "Infrastructure 3" – the private cloud infrastructure ANS launched last year – and managed services now generate 70 to 80 per cent of ANS' new business sales.

Half of ANS' turnover is generated from the public sector, primarily the NHS and central and local government.

Fletcher said ANS' turnover is on course to hit at least £40m in its current fiscal year, with staff numbers set to swell from 120 to 150 over the next 12 months, despite the bleak economic backdrop.

"Don't get me wrong – I want the economy to improve," he said. "But we are still growing very well as we have managed to produce a solution that works well for this environment. Our private cloud infrastructure allows customers to scale up and down quickly at the lowest cost point."
