UK PSG head lauds HP decision
Paul Hunter sends out a message to partners and customers pledging to 'further improve' the UK business
HP's UK PSG chief has sent a message to partners and customers welcoming the decision to keep the PC division.
Paul Hunter, head of HP PSG UK and Ireland, wrote: "While I was very confident of our ability to thrive and grow should the business be spun out into a separate company - or even sold - I am pleased we will remain closely integrated for a number of reasons."
The company has undergone a 'robust' and at times 'very public' audit, he said, which will only make it fitter and stronger.
"After a deep data driven analysis, we have decided that HP and PSG are stronger together," he said. "Our strength comes from being together.
"Looking at the results over the related period for the PSG business, we have performed well," he added. "Market share has remained remarkably resilient. We are in a strong position and are striving to increase the gap on our competition."
However he hinted that HP will not be complacent.
"This is not to ignore some of the challenges that we have faced over the past few months, which is why myself and my management team are committed to further improving the UK business," he said.
"We will get closer to all our customers; whether that's deepening the support for our channel partners, providing more consultancy and advice for our enterprise customers or delivering improved customer service and after-sales support for consumers."
He said that the firm plans to build on its LinkedIn community and 'roll it out' to a wider audience, and it has also created a new internal business unit for its premium range of products to 'add more value' to its retail channel.
The vendor is also committed to education, through its sponsorship of the World Education Summit in January, and is looking at how it can support more schools and colleges with IT products, he claimed.
"In short, we are doing some great work already, but we can, and will, do even better. You can expect to hear much more from HP PSG in the coming months," he concluded.
He also implored partners to give the PSG team feedback and to contact him personally or any member of his team if they had any questions.
