Virtual Computer enlists 40 resellers

IDV vendor claims it holds the antidote for resellers that are struggling with stalled VDI deployments

Intelligent desktop virtualisation (IDV) vendor Virtual Computer has hooked in 40 resellers since appointing Prianto as its first UK distributor last summer.

In contrast to VDI, IDV - a term championed by chip giant Intel - virtualises the PC not the server.

John Glendenning, senior vice president of sales at Virtual Computer, said resellers are successfully positioning the vendor's NxTop offering as an antidote for stalled VDI projects.

"This could release a number of projects that are currently caught in budget issues and maybe resellers are struggling to justify the case for VDI," he said.

"You can get all the central management of VDI without the complexity and cost, while retaining a rich local experience," he said.

Since July, Virtual Computing and distributor Prianto have recruited 40 resellers, including B2Lateral, Centralis, Cetus Solutions, Overbright, RedPixie and Virtek.

Prianto managing director Yuri Pasea (pictured) said IDV worked out at 10 to 15 per cent of the cost of rolling out a full VDI solution with hardware.

"I suspect by this time next year we will have another 40 resellers, if not more, as IDV is taking the market by storm," Pasea said.

Despite only being founded in 2008, Virtual Computer NxTop is on version 4 and the firm has several hundred deployments worldwide.
