SCC builds IBM platform for G-Cloud push

Secure multi-tenancy cloud will be based on IBM hardware and software

SCC is aiming to cash in on the government's G-Cloud programme with the launch of a secure multi-tenancy cloud (SMTC).

Set to debut on 30 June, SCC's UK-hosted cloud platform will be based on IBM hardware and software and will allow the VAR to deliver a range of business and technical services to G-Cloud customers on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The cloud platform – which has completed the government's Technical Risk Assessment – is built on IBM blade server hardware and a range of Tivoli software and Storwize V7000 storage technology. SCC and IBM will also tailor a range of SaaS and infrastructure-as-a-service solutions for public sector organisations.

SMTC will launch by offering a range of IBM software packages. This includes BlueWorks Live, predictive analytical software and data management software.

Tracy Westall, SCC's UK public sector director, said: "Our relationship with IBM will deliver to G-Cloud customers a range of highly scalable, robust and secure solutions at a much reduced cost."

Jan Gower, vice president of public sector, health and life sciences at IBM UK and Ireland, said: "As the future of government service provisioning continues to change, SCC's cloud platform strives to open new doors to productivity and innovation for public sector organisations."
