Don't believe the type

UK students are wasting 339 million hours each year due to shoddy typing skills, according to research.

Figures from touch typing training specialist Student-type demonstrate UK undergraduates' dire need for touch typing training, (happy coincidence, that). Apparently an 80 words per minute typist can complete their coursework 333 hours quicker than a 20 words per minute laggard. (The actual words are of minimal importance, so long as you bash them out double-quick).

Student-type's Sue Westwood said: "Most of us are still typing like electro-chickens, hunting and pecking with our index fingers."

My thoughts exactly. She went on to assert that the UK is way behind the US, where typing features on the curriculum.

Tsk - this country. Do our children really need to do all that history, languages and maths?
