Train drama
People never cease to amaze me.
Some poor woman collapsed on my train this morning and the crew made the entire train wait at a station while an ambulance was called and the woman was taken to hospital. I thought it was quite nice to know that people care - although I was very chilled this morning and didn't have an early meeting to get to.
But people all around me were going absolutely crazy - saying "chuck her off and let's get going", and "why can't the train just carry on to London so we can get off" and one even said "if she felt ill she shouldn't have got on the train in the first place". Nice.
When something like that happens I always put myself in the position of the people involved. If I was taken ill I would really appreciate people making sure I was OK rather than just dumping me at the nearest platform, and the train crew have a duty of care to their passengers, so they were just doing their job.
Good on them I say.
As for everyone else, they epitomise what I love about the modern world - people are always willing to help each other and offer support in times of crisis. I hope they are ashamed of themselves and I also hope it never happens to them.
