What motivates you every morning to get up and work in the channel? Every day is just so different, be it new technology, new products, new promotions, new people and as always new demands from the channel.
What has been the most over-hyped technology in the past five years? 3G, plain and simple.
What will be the most underrated technology in the next five years? The move to the more subtle wireless technologies.
Which technology would you most like to have invented? 802.11x.
Do you have any regrets from your time in the industry? That I listened to and did not punch the lights out of many idiots.
If you could swap places with anyone in the industry, who would it be? Steve Jobs, chief executive of Apple, for a week just to sign off and pull forward all those cool gadgets they must have in R&D.
What is the biggest hurdle you have faced in your career? The DRam price drops from a few years ago. Every morning the value of stock in the warehouse and on the water was dropping by double digit percentage points.
What is the biggest success of your career? The launch and roll-out of MP3 players in the UK.
What piece of technology could you not live without? I hate to say it, but it has to be laptop and BlackBerry.
What would be your advice to anyone starting a career in IT? Get a good technical degree then join an IT distributor for a few years. This will expose you to all sorts of technologies and you learn to watch the pennies.
What is your favourite computer game? Splinter Cell 4: Double Agent on the Xbox 360.
What would you like for Christmas if you could have anything? A Bugatti Veron with a fuel card.
What is your favourite karaoke song? I don’t do karaoke, it’s just not fair on the others in the room.
What would be the title of your autobiography? There Is No Such Word As ‘No’.
