Both Compaq and NEC say they will have ultra-thin Pentium-based notebooks for release later in the year. Compaq is expected to launch in June at PC Expo, which sources say will be a low-cost product. Compaq is also expected to adopt the LTE name for all of its portables, to avoid confusion. NEC will ship a light-weight version of its Versa notebook, which is modular.
