Achim Apel branches out from Avnet
President of Avnet Technology Solutions leaves after just three months in the role
Achim Apel, president of Avnet Technology Solutions EMEA, has parted company with the distributor after just three months in the position.
Apel was appointed last September and joined Avnet from Motorola Embedded Communication Computing where he held the position of director of worldwide sales. He has previously held positions at both DEC and Compaq.
Avnet confirmed that Apel had left the company, but added: “It is Avnet’s policy that we do not provide any details or comments on employment matters relating to our employees.”
CRN understands that Bill Crowell, group financial officer at Avnet Technology Solutions, is filling the role in the interim.
Apel gave his first interview exclusively to CRN last October. At the time he said he was planning to increase Avnet’s business across Europe both organically and through acquisitions.
