BMC unites its networks
After making acquisitions, firm amalgamates channel programmes
BMC Software is amalgamating its channel programmes into one two-tiered offering, called BMC Partner Network, on 1 April.
The move stems from BMC's acquisitive behaviour over the past three years. Its purchases have included Remedy, Marimba, Magic, and most recently, identity management start-up Calendra.
"BMC has partners from a variety of different organisations. By bringing together all of the partner programmes under one umbrella, we will be able to give our partners a single point of contact," said Nick McEvoy, UK channel manager at BMC.
He added that the firm has identified eight Routes To Value (RTVs) to help partners offer business service management systems.
Paige Erickson, vice-president of worldwide channels and alliances at BMC, said: "Aligning the Partner Network with the RTVs enables partners to focus on the immediate problems customers face, quickly demonstrate ROI to them and help them align IT with their businesses."
BMC currently has about 20 partners in the UK. McEvoy said BMC will be identifying where there are gaps in its coverage and recruiting partners in those areas.
Mark Ashley, divisional director of enterprise service management at Morse, said: "We are very upbeat about the new network. We believe it will add structure and formalise a lot of the work we've been doing with BMC."
Mark Lyttle, managing director of Fusion Business Solutions, a BMC partner for the past 10 years, told CRN: "BMC's message is that it is keen to help us grow, which is obviously great news."
