Adaptec claims acquisition is "positive" for partners
Vendor promises continuity of partner care during post-acquisition changeover
Signed off: Adaptec claims business operations will "remain uniterrupted" by deal
Adaptec-boss Jared Peters has assured partners that the acquisition of the firm’s channel business by PMC-Sierra will have a “positive” outcome for them.
Last month, the ailing storage vendor announced that it was to offload certain assets, including its RAID storage product line, established VAR customer base and brand name, in a $34m deal with internet infrastructure semiconductor firm PMC-Sierra.
The acquisition was completed yesterday and it was announced that the remainder of Adaptec’s business will now trade under the name ADPT Corporation.
In a letter to customers, Adaptec vice president Peters explained that the vendor’s channel business will now operate as a new “stand-alone” business unit of PMC-Sierra called the Channel Storage Division (CSD).
Peters said a number of “key channel personnel” have been hired by PMC-Sierra to support CSD and that the company’s commitment to the channel “will remain as strong as ever".
The company’s business operations will also be "unchanged and uninterrupted” during the transition, he promised.
“It is my personal objective to make this transaction as productive and positive for you, our customers,” the letter read.
“Our current product[s] will remain unchanged and I can assure you that there are no plans to change our short-term road map and offerings.”
