VAR launches a range of training courses to help customers get the most from open source

Mike Vinten: Linux has become popular in financially challenged times

VAR Thesaurus has donned its teachers cap to launch a range of Linux-based training courses.

The courses are available in both public and unscheduled sessions to teach IT staff a range of Linux skills, ranging from the fundamentals to advanced administration and troubleshooting.

Each course is instructed by Linux-certified experts and draws on the well of enterprise level Linux experience from Thesaurus' own team. The VAR also provides post-course access to its trainers to supply further expert advice and support.

Mike Vinten, chief executive of Thesaurus, said: "Linux has become especially popular in financially challenging times when every penny spent on IT is precious.

"Linux operating systems are very reliable, effective and can generally lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) for a company. However, to realise these benefits IT staff should be trained to a high standard and as such, we have seen an increase in demand for training on these systems at a variety of levels.”
