Software giant Microsoft has kicked of the New Year with a resolution to increase performance, reliability, security and compatibility.
In his keynote speech at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer of Microsoft, announced the availability of the Windows 7 beta operating system as well as the latest version of Windows Live.
In addition, the vendor revealed it has a slew of new products up its sleeve this year to improve communication and information sharing for users.
Ballmer said: “I am thrilled to announce the availability of the Windows 7 beta, which is on track to deliver simplicity and reliability.
“Windows 7 and Windows Live are part of an incredible pipeline of consumer technology that is making it easier than ever for people to communicate, share and get more done.”
Windows Live services now include Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Photo Gallery designed to work seamlessly with more than 50 internet services.
Ballmer also announced future alliances with vendor Dell, social networking site Facebook and mobile search firm Verizon Wireless.
February will see Dell offering preloaded Windows Live Essentials, which includes instant messaging, email and photos that complement Windows Live on the Web, on its consumer and small business PCs globally.
