Distie taps into SNI PC servers

Distributor Datrontech has won the rights to Siemens Nixdorf's PC server range through a distribution deal it signed with the vendor's server subsidiary, Pyramid Technology.

But Datrontech will not be allowed to sell the PC range, which is carried by Tplc, Computacenter and Ideal Hardware.

One source said Siemens Nixdorf (SNI) claims that selling through Pyramid's direct salesforce is not a direct sale and that Pyramid would claim it is moving towards an indirect channel model. 'No one has mentioned that Datrontech gets SNI boxes because it has got together with Pyramid,' he said.

PC Dealer revealed that Pyramid would move away from its direct-only sales (PC Dealer, 6 December 1995).

An SNI representative admitted that SNI PC servers sell through Pyramid's channels alongside Pyramid's own RM high-end server range. 'But it is clear that Pyramid distributors will not have distribution agreements on SNI PCs,' she said.
