Electrone plugs video editing gap
Peripherals specialist aims gadget at video editing market
People who use video editing tools can create considerable value
Specialist peripherals maker Electrone has launched a custom designed gadget that it has claimed will fill a gap in the market for video editing products.
Electrone said the System200 Shuttle Control is the first mid-range product catering for the majority of users left disenfranchised by entry level and high end video editing tools.
The technology is to be distributed by Stevenage-based specialist distributor Contech, and sold through systems integrators, system builders and audiovisual resellers. Electrone claimed that the need for pre-configuration of the system will create considerable value add opportunities for the channel.
The System200 is described as a highly programmable jog shuttle control pad for video editing. Its two-line LCD display allows bi-directional communication. This makes it easy for video editors to jump around digital footage created by users.
It also contains up to 75 programmable hot keys, which give end users time saving short cuts. Mark Broadhead, Contech’s sales manager, said resellers could design these hot keys to meet specific vertical market needs. The demand for video content is growing across all sectors, he argued.
“The broadcasting sector has a huge range of users. Entry level systems are not good enough for most business use, but on the other hand high end systems are too heavy duty for most people,” he explained.
Mike Buchanan, Electrone Europe’s head of marketing, said: “We have developed a lot of products for the emergency services and created programmable hot keys for CCTV users. Our market research identified a need for a competitively priced professional consumer product, for the broadcast sector.”
Resellers with a good knowledge of applications used in video editing suites are particularly in demand, said Buchanan. “People that know Adobe Premier, or Final Cut, or any top editing package, could create considerable value helping people use these systems more efficiently. They could save their customers a lot of time and money,” he said.
