IT services and solutions group announces new chief executive appointment
VAR Microgen has announced changes to its management line-up as it announces plans to focus on organic growth.
David Sherriff is to be appointed chief executive with effect from 1 May. Previously Sherriff worked as Group managing director.
In addition, Martyn Ratcliffe, currently executive chairman will migrate to a non-executive position, but will maintain an active role in the Group on a part-time basis.
In a statement the firm said: “Following these changes, Microgen’s strategy will focus on driving the organic development of the Group and achieving the full potential from the new products being launched in 2006.”
Microgen will hold its AGM on 11 May.
Phil Codling, analyst at Ovum said: “The announcement has come as something of a surprise. Ratcliffe has led Microgen for the last eight years and has been the architect of its acquisition-led growth. But the firm’s strategy is moving away from mergers & acquisition. Sherriff’s appointment is therefore entirely logical, because as managing director since 2002 he has focused on the organic growth of the business.”
