Trams on a winning track for Innovator 2003

First CRN/Syscap Approved Technology Innovator Award of 2003 goes to London-based reseller

A multi-sited, multi-tenanted broadband solution has won the first CRN/Syscap Approved Technology Innovator Award of 2003.

London-based reseller Trams won the award in recognition of a project that has given web and IP telephony access to up to 1,300 SMEs in London.

Trams designed and implemented a fully integrated broadband solution for Workspace Group that will deliver broadband solutions to 10,000 users across 1,300 tenants at 21 sites.

The network cost £2m and five sites have already been lit up. During the next phase a further 16 will go online.

According to Hugo Kirby, managing director of Trams, it is the first offering of its kind to be delivered in Europe.

"The project was the first true multi-site, multi-tenanted unit installation for Cisco, and particularly for their IP telephony solution," he said.

Workspace Group has already benefited a great deal as a result of the project, said Harry Platt, chief executive of Workspace.

"Trams was one of the very few which had the vision to come up with a proposal that enhanced the overall scale and potential of our plans and which was able to provide the range of technical expertise required," he said.
