Maverick lists audiovisual 'essentials' for margins

Distributor puts best sellers on top of peripherals list

Mark Tildesley: List will cover the vast majority of users' needs

Maverick has compiled for resellers a list of add-on items for hardware such as displays and projectors.

According to the distributor, the list of 45 best-selling specialist projector screens, brackets, speakers and cables will cover the “vast majority” of all user needs around large-format displays, projectors and interactive whiteboards.

Mark Tildesley, general manager of Maverick, said the list, dubbed AV Essentials, would help resellers boost profit per sale because finding the right add-ons was often a real chore.

“This makes it much easier to identify and sell those products,” he said.

Midwich last month launched its ‘Whichmounts’ configurator, an online tool that matches peripherals with displays. But Tildesley said Maverick’s decision to launch AV Essentials was “purely coincidental”.

“I have actually been researching this and putting together our Essentials proposition over the past couple of months,” he said.

Tildesley said many companies have free online configurators.

“The mass of the market can be served perfectly adequately by a few key products which fit a multitude of projection and display offerings,” he added.

Specialist resellers generally sell brackets as part of a solution, working closely with partners. Configurators may actually confuse things by offering too much choice, Tildesley said.

“I do not expect the reseller margin on these AV Essentials products to be eroded,” he added.
