IMC goes into receivership

Distributor International Medical Corporation (IMC) has gone into administrative receivership following poor financial results and declining sales.

Part of the Rivacom group, and a specialist in Umax scanners and medical imaging equipment, IMC went into receivership on 2 January.

Andrew Himsley, a representative of Kroll Buchler Phillips, confirmed that his company has been appointed official receiver. Industry sources estimate that the firm owes between £3m and £4m to creditors.

No one from IMC or Rivacom was available for comment. David Robson, chairman, founded Rivacom in 1988 as an engineering and utility software distributor. IMC was bought in 1989 because its hardware products complemented Rivacom's software.

Over the next 10 years, IMC expanded further into medical imaging systems, then into the wider imaging market and, more recently, into laptops and data projection, sources confirmed.
