KPMG recruits top security trio

Recruits from Computacenter, Symantec and Deloitte take key roles in new security venture

Bullish KPMG has signed three key figures for phase one of its plans to set up its own information protection and business resilience (IPBR) division.

The market watcher plans to quadruple revenues and grow its team to more than 200 by October 2013 to combat the continued growth in security issues such as cyber-crime and data loss.

Paul Hanley joins the teams as a director, heading up KPMG’s IPBR team in the information, communication and entertainment sectors.

Prior to his new role, Hanley was head of technology, media and telecoms security at rival Deloitte.

Doug Davidson has joined as a principal advisor for IPBR. He joins from Computacenter, where he worked as public sector security business manager. His role will be to continue expanding IPBR’s footprint in the government sector.

Finally, Paul Lothian has joined the firm as principal advisor to help IPBR grow in the financial services sector of the business. Lothian was previously head of Symantec’s UK and Ireland security consulting practice.

Malcolm Marshall, head of KPMG’s IPBR business in the UK, said: “I am delighted to welcome all three new colleagues to our team. They deepen and broaden our leadership at the end of a year that has seen us grow the UK team by 90 per cent. They reflect the quality of the existing team which is the strongest in the market.

“We have ambitious growth plans for the business – broadening and deepening the range of services offered and acquiring businesses that are highly compatible with KPMG’s brand.”
