Dot Hill picks up execs from newly acquired rivals

SAN vendor appoints former Pillar and LSI bosses to drive growth

SAN vendor Dot Hill Systems has taken advantage of the M&A activity sweeping through the storage channel to nab execs from two of its newly acquired rivals.

Former Pillar Data Systems exec Brad Painter has joined the firm as vice president for worldwide channel sales.

News of his appointment follows Pillar's acquisition by software giant Oracle last June, where he had worked in a similar role for several years.

The storage vendor has also poached Scott Brooks, who has held various roles within LSI's Engenio Storage Group over the past decade, and handed him the newly created position of vice president of customer services and sales.

His appointment comes five months on from storage giant NetApp agreeing to acquire LSI's Engenio business.

Dana Kammersgard, chief executive of Dot Hill, said hiring the pair would make a big difference to its business.

"The hiring of these two proven industry veterans, recruited from our competitors, will increase our ability to expand our customer and revenues based, said Kammersgard.

"The ongoing consolidation of the industry, coupled with Dot Hill's compelling strategy and intellectual property, is creating unique opportunities to attract proven talent."
