Samsung files against Apple in tit-for-tat battle

Korean vendor drags iPad Mini into ongoing patent spat

Samsung has filed papers in the US alleging that Apple's iPad Mini, which launched earlier this month, infringes eight of its own patents.

The latest hit comes days after Samsung scored a small victory over its rival when a judge ordered Apple to reveal the financial details of its patent licensing deal with HTC, signed earlier this month. The documents will be kept strictly between both sets of lawyers and not made public.

Currently the two firms are doing battle across 10 countries and are both seeking to get sales bans on each others' products.

Last month a preliminary ruling in the US found that Samsung infringed four of Apple's intellectual property patents, but a final International Trade Commission call on the judge's findings will be made in February.
